Starting with the cultural extension activities of 2018, the Library is glad to announce that we’ll host a free workshop titled “A Clown in the Theater,” dedicated to the teens and young adult population. It will be coordinated by the theater director and actress María Victoria Ninona and the professor and actress Belén Girolami.
This workshop belongs to the National Program “For more readers” organized by CONABIP (Popular Libraries National Commission), which works with over two thousand libraries in Argentina. This organization provides a subsidy to initiate and complete the activities that have been proposed in the special project. This Library has concreted several of those workshops such as cinema analysis, chess, narrative for adults and book clubs.
This year we dedicate it to the Theater-Clown pair: two intimately linked disciplines that share spaces, concepts and fundamentally, actors. The idea emerges with the objective of showing through the theater, what a clown really is. In this way, the workshop intends to approach and pick on the concept of both matters together. The Clown is a character that possesses its own poetry; it’s a theatrical genre itself that through corporal, comical and improvisation techniques, the individuals will be able to discover the essence by themselves. All the exercises are conceived and presented from reading a text, be it a story, a play or some theoretical material.
The workshop will take 16 classes that will include, as stated, techniques and theater games, working with our voice and looks, text analysis and improvisation, not to mention the reminder that we can laugh of ourselves and with others.
The classes begin on March 14th, every Wednesday from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. A pre-registration is required at the Library, Ameghino 399, Mondays to Fridays from 8 am to 12 am, and from 6 pm to 8 pm. The workshop is open to Argentinian residents.
